Why is data acquisition so important?
To enable ministries and subordinate authorities to make decisions in favor of the protection of oceans, lakes and rivers. Their status must be known.
It is essential to know which pollutants are present or whether climate change, has effected other parameters, such as temperature, Ph, oxygeen or turbidity.
A good practical example to be named, is aquaculture.
Aquaculture can do a lot of good to feed the population of Tanzania and to get away from asian imports.
Asian fishing fleets, some of them illegally, overfishing African coastal waters.
Aquaculture can be part of the solution, but it can also be the opposite and cause massive environmental damage.
This could end up having a huge negative impact on biodiversity and tourism.
Therefore, data acquisition are needed from which models can be develloped.
E.g. at what location, how much aquaculture is possible.
Negative impacts on the ecosystem must be avoided at all costs.
Here we work together with ministries and the Aquaculture Assisioation Tanzania to share information.
For this important task we also need your donation.
